It's quite a lot of articles out there about personal branding (the way you market yourself to the world), and maybe because it's too much then you can easily look it up on Google. Some of them are something like: "How Do I Establish A Personal Brand as Graphic Designer", or perhaps "99 effective steps to promote yourself as a graphic designer online" and many more. Therefore here I will not discuss personal branding in general, but I will only share what things are often overlooked and even forgotten when we build personal branding. Some things that I will discuss including:

The selection of a name as an identity.
Name consistency.
Trademark words or Jargon.
The use of the symbol representing yourself.
A brief profile of who you are.

Personal Branding for Graphic Designers

Name as an identity

Suppose we are going to build a personal branding by making a personal blog or personal website. So the things we need to think about is a unique name, a brief, clear, easily remembered by the public or by the client. It certainly should be able to represent the image of us or our business that were wrestled. You can research on Google, find out if you are going to use a name already taken by someone else, try to get a name that is unique, fresh and make sure you are the only one who has it, also avoid names that already exist in Google, because it would only lead to a confusion public and the clients who are looking for you.

Name consistency

If you've got a name that is unique, fresh, original and imaged about yourself, well then the next step you will register your name to the famous social media eg Facebook, Twitter, and others. Try to use the same username with the name of your choice, even if it has been taken then you can just add a few numbers before your name. In the process of building personal branding, try to use the same username on every social network and is not recommended to use a different name because it will only cause confusion for the public or clients recognize. If you use the same name at least google will easily find you or even give you top rankings if you are consistent, then the traffic on your social media will increase. as well as email accounts, or accounts like yahoo messenger or skype, I would encourage you to keep using the same name, it will allow you to remember it easily.

Slogan / Trademark words or Jargon

Sometimes we think of trademark words / jargon does not really matter when it could provide a huge effect on personal branding. Jargon / trademarks are the words we often find in product advertising on television, internet, outdoor media, print media, etc. or for specific purposes such as social campaigns. The words were created to build the brand of a product, the words were repeated continually so embedded in the minds of the audience. The following are some of the jargon that may be inherent in the public ear:

Nokia - Connecting People
Coca-Cola - Always Coca-Cola.
Kit Kat - Give me a break,
Isaly Dairy Company's Klondike bar - What would you do for a Klondike bar?
McDonald's - I'm lovin' it.
Nike - Just Do It.

the more public hear your slogan, the more well-known yourself. therefore create a slogan that suits your field field, then sounding it consistently, gradually people will get to know you through the jargon door.

The use of the symbol representing yourself

On the previous point I have discussed about the slogan that is more to the audio approach, so at this point we will discuss the approach visually using a symbol that we can use so that people can more easily recognize us. Symbol can be a logo, icon, index, avatars etc. basically something that is visible to our eyes. Well since this is a discussion about personal branding, then you can use a photo of yourself to be used as a symbol. Get used to using images or symbols with a consistent, suppose you are a packaging,designer then use the same logo every chance of promotion, whether it's on posters, flyers, brochures, websites, anywhere. or maybe if you're a UI designer you can display your photos on your various social accounts so that the public easily identify you.

A brief profile of who you are

Once people get to know your names, slogans, and symbols - then you would prepare a brief profile of who you are. This step is the detail of the bullet points above means that people will know us by looking at our biography, Who we are, from where, what we do, why we do it, what benefits the public can feel when working with us, our future expectations, and much else that we can write in our short profile. With the objective: the public will come to know ourselves more deeply and close.

All of the development process of personal branding will always take time and not instantly, it needs consistency, hard work and patience. Blogging For Business

Lately the blog paradigm has changed drastically from the beginning of its appearance first. The senior bloggers argue that the early occurrence of the blog is driven by great passion of the people to have a personal website. Because managing a website is not as easy as it seems it gives birth to a blog platform that in fact is user friendly. So the early days of its appearance, the blog is widely used to simply share and vent.

Blog in today's more to streamline the business, either directly or indirectly.

Blog for direct business usually is a blog that used to sell any product or ad publisher. Usually this blog has a product or advertisements on display there. The goal is of course for visitors who come to buy products that were displayed or clicked on display ads (PPC).

Just sometimes there are several factors that sucks and makes the visitors to avoid this kind of blog that is when the blog has become a "window". In other words, this blog has put too many banners or advertisements of products.

They may not realize it but it is huge, especially the banners would be very annoying when the visitors reading the articles presented. It may also not have time to read the article, to open these blogs are already reluctant because of loading time (hence very few visitors of this blog).

Well for a business blog that used to indirectly (ie is a blog that is not used just to sell or install a variety of banners), but to support the main website.

For example: the "Site Sketch 101" is one that supports "Scribe SEO". You can see it does not have the kinds of products on display or a weird ad is attached. The blog is purely for sharing as well as drive visitors to the web resellers. Nothing fancy. Just for sharing. Simple but leads directly to the main website.

Conclusions

Blogs which used to doing business can be from blogs that are free or paid. Although free, it does not always earn less than a paid blog. It depends on how we manage and optimize it.

Before moving to blog with hosting and paid domain name, I now still use the free platform (blogger.com). So in fact the blog can be what and how once again is the way we manage and the initial purpose of these blogs are built.

Blogging for Branding, Education and Business Series (Part 1)

If I usually present a rather heavy article, so in this article I deliberately try to make it a little lighter, by the way this discussion about blogging habit. This article firstly comes from my brother's question, Ocha, who is currently studying philosophy of science FIB UI. He asked me a question like: "do you really need to blog? Because not that blogging is just a waste of time. Moreover, if you have committed and will be consistent in publishing the article, it's like only being chased by the deadline."

Then my first answer randomly: "because writing is a hobby, so it requires the distribution, and automatically because the distribution of a hobby so I am not burdened. Well, the blog becomes an excellent medium for me, because I have sent several articles to newspapers, but they was never published. So this blog is more like an outlet, haha!

After a slight joking way, I got serious explaining to Ocha. 3 Reasons I am blogging (although more correct to say a benefit).

and business.

Blogging For Education

Dear readers, with or without realizing it when you're blogging in fact there is an education process there. Especially when you have a background that is far from the world of writing.

Blogs can be written exercises means that in fact is one of the important skills that must be held whenever and wherever you are.

For example for a student who must have good writing skills for the task, theses, etc. As for those who are working I think not far from the so-called "report"in any of your work. Even in the working world is actually very important. Why? Since this will be more value for you to be promoted to certain positions.

In addition, an important and implicit in the habit of blogging is the ability of existing ideas in our minds either in the form of oral and written. And that is all represented as the process of blogging

I am sure, blogging certainly originated from an idea right? Well then you try how these ideas can be communicated well in written form so that readers can understand what the intent and purpose of your ideas are.

I often see some of my friends who actually have brilliant ideas, but never implemented and bring a good only because they are unable to communicate.

the Educational Process

So here's the educational process. Want a proof ...? Try to prove itself, take note of your writing style when you just start a blog than compare it when you've made more than 50 articles, I am very confident they will be very different.

Even if you see my blog has a few articles but writing neatly structured, it's because on my old blog before I've written about 50 articles. So there is a habit and learning process and the changes for the better.

So in blogging for education, you have to get two points. First you practice to write and communicate ideas into practice both written and spoken (written with oral language.)

Well, actually there is a third point for this education. What is it? It is the ability to search for specific information, process, and present better. This is reflected when you look for supporting data for your writing to be more valid and not just a mere opinion.

The ability of this third point will be very useful to you in the face of complex problems.

Conclusions

When we are faced with a problem, then the best solution is to analyze the problem, then find some info. From the information that has been processed and there can be a solution to your problem.

Good Tips for Continuous Blog Post Writing

I've mentioned a few tips on what graphic designers should be written into their blog ("7 Blog Post Ideas for Graphic Designers"). But to write a blog item required consistency, it must be written in a continuous or sustained, I recommend to at least write one post a week.

However, to become productive in writing is a separate issue, especially if you have to write in a sustainable and continuous. But nothing is impossible in this world as well as writing a blog. Here are some tips to make your blog not only to keep it filled at any time but continuously.

Be sensitive: Open your eyes, ears, heart, and mind...

Okay, so that is maybe a bit cliché, but this is the most effective tips for those who want to remain able to write blog content regularly.

It doesn't matter about what content you write on your blog, and it's not about freelance work what you do, the sensitivity can make you see things may not be visible to others, and this is something good for your writing materials. The sensitivity allows you to be able to see things that may not be seen by others, and this is something good for your writing materials.

Write about anything interesting

A hobby that became a job often times work for entrepreneurs, it is because they enjoyed the work that is also their hobby, as well as writing. If you find something interesting, then write it.

The most exciting thing is to write about anything interesting.

Don't be afraid

Having a lot of blog readers? Or have a large following in your twitter account and often times it makes hesitate to publish or write a thing?

Don't be! Even if the fear is quite disturbing then I suggest you to keep writing and publish it, of course with careful consideration and thorough editing process as well.

You will never get opinions from your blog readers until they read it, it is important to keep your writing doesn't offend others or a particular party. If you find that your own writing scorned by some folks, even many comments in the comment section of your blog, don't be afraid, I believe that among many readers of your blog there are some who love your writing and waiting for you to write again.

Take the risks

Well, the next process of the commitment in writing a blog is taking a risk, this mainly for writing a blog that contains the exact information that must be accurate and there should be no mistake, say the date or the writing that makes your idea against another.

As I said before, don't be afraid, take the risk and face it. If you write seriously, read a variety of information, complete with valid data with the right resources, and do the well editing process, then you will be able by itself to know about how to defend your views contained in your blog posts.

If your readers are people with an open mind, then they must accept your writing and consider it as new information to open a space of debate, rather than an attack to reply.

Don't delay

As usual I always put the most important thing in the end. The most important of continuous blogging is do not delay.

Perform the following points whenever you get the idea: make some notes, make sketches or write directly, never put off and do not expect the idea will come back, sometimes the ideas just go and when you try to remember they like will never come back.

When you read an interesting thing you can write in your notes, or when you watch a movie that is very interesting and encourage you to write a review, or if you accidentally see a web design you like and encourage you to write or discuss design, then immediately write down some notes and points that you write, then bunch of words and post it on your blog.

Delaying is sometimes fun, because you will be free of 'obligation' to fill your blog, but this is an 'acute illness' that unwittingly will make your blog will not be filled continuously.
There are many ways you can do to keep the blogs that you manage to populate the content that is interesting and runs continuously, but some tips above includes a few basic ways to make your blog is constantly filled, hopefully this can all be beneficial for you.
