Less is More! Perhaps the graphic designer is no stranger to hear that phrase. An expression that refers to the importance of simplicity in communicating a message visually. In logo design, this is a standard rule, used by most of logo designers throughout the world and passed down from generation to generation. Up sometimes, we often forget the main essence to find out why the rules (simplicity) is used.
Why Should a logo be simple?
Let's go back to this simple question: "Why Should a logo be simple?"Here are some personal thoughts to fruition the reason why the simplicity of the logo is quite important:
1) Easy to Remember
By being in the midst of a brand universe, then to remember one of them will be very difficult. Basically, the human brain captures a visual element in a simple basic shapes such as circles, triangles, rectangles, etc.. Then it will proceed to a stage of more detailed and complicated. Therefore, the simpler the shape, the more likely a logo imprint on the minds of the audience.
2) Timeless
A simple logo is Timeless (will not be easily influenced by time and trends). Simple does not mean being saturated. On the contrary, simplicity will strengthen the character of a brand. Simplicity is definite, clear, and no-frills confusing.
3. Consistent
A logo can be said to be good just by looking in appearance only. But to see it succeed and work effectively, there needs to be consistent in the application of any promotional media used. This will be difficult if the logo is too complicated. The simplicity of form will create a logo consistency is maintained, even when carved on the pavement though.
4) Efficient
Lip service (in any form) always managed to waste time, so does the logo design. Give directly what is required of the audience, do not make them think, and guessing. A fairly simple logo would be very efficient in creating a direct and clear communication, and not wasting time.
Yup! It's my opinion. How about you?
