Often most of us are too focused on the aesthetic value or beauty so forget the function. "Keep It Simple, Stupid!" is a popular phrase among creative professionals. The point is to emphasize the importance of simplicity in a work, whatever it is. Simple output will be easier to understand. It is also related to how to make the graphics work to be functional.

Vandalism | Banksy: a Prolific Graffiti Artist
In the past article, Jayce-o-Yesta Design Studio has been discussed about the graphic artists who transform their ideas in public places. These activities are often referred to as vandalism. Many forms of resistance are made to this activity,
especially by the government of course.

Vandalism | Banksy: a Prolific Graffiti Artist

Examples forms of vandalism that is often done is to scribble existing public media, or replace a message of, etc. In the united states for example, most forms of vandalism is graffiti containing messages about the existence of a group, or a ban on litter, removing / replacing the traffic signs, images and messages that represent the social resistance, to the most severe is just doodles without meaning / message.

But there are also forms of vandalism that have become works of art that deserves thumbs up. One example is the underground projects undertaken by Banksy, the graffiti creations mostly contains an idea or message which is trying to convey to the public and government. Although this can not be said to be a form of legal (and even impressed against a general rule), but the messages are delivered quite inspiring and persuasive. And of course this is not a paid job.

"It's not about money... it's about sending a message"

Maybe some of you also have some messages that can be visualized in the form of graphic art, such as posters, web pages, walls, blank canvas, even a love letter;). Vandalism is just one expression of the visual space of the many media that can be used. What matters to me is the message is appropriate and does not violate the rules. :D

Graphic Arts Basic: Aesthetics

Graphic Arts Basic: Aesthetics
Aesthetics in Graphics: The word 'aesthetic' derives from the Greek word: 'aesthesis' which means feeling, a sense of feeling or taste. In the process, Munro said that aesthetics is the way to respond to the stimulus, especially through sensory perception, but also associated with mental processes, such as associations, understanding, imagination, and emotion. Science of aesthetics is a science which studies all things related to beauty, learning all aspects of what we call beauty.

Graphic Arts Basic: Aesthetics

1. Some definitions of aesthetics

Aesthetics is the study of the quality of the beauty of an object or impulse power, and the creator of aesthetic experience and observations.
Aesthetics in the context of the creation by John Hosper is part of the philosophy associated with the process of creating beautiful work.

Aesthetics Definition:

Aesthetics (also spelled æsthetics or esthetics) is a branch of philosophy dealing with the nature of beauty, art, and taste, and with the creation and appreciation of beauty. It is more scientifically defined as the study of sensory or sensori-emotional values, sometimes called judgments of sentiment and taste. More broadly, scholars in the field define aesthetics as "critical reflection on art, culture and nature.

2. Why You Should Understand Aesthetics

First, because works of art, natural design, and the artificial is so valuable, so they deserve to be studied traits typical for the sake of art and design itself.

Second, the creators have argued that the aesthetic experience (related experience works of art and design) is so valuable both for the group and its members so that each work of art and design is worth studying.

Third, maybe the creators thought that this experience is so valuable in themselves so that it requires testing and research on the qualities of works of art and design.

Aesthetics is the study of knowledge, and understanding through observation of matters of beauty, both on the object or subject, or creator, and observations through the philosophical and creative process.

3. Aesthetics in the Graphic Communications Industry

Union between aesthetics with technology in the graphic communications industry is a matter that is quite complex, and lead to the development of specific styling based on practical needs.
