Starbucks the coffee giant international network has announced a redesign of their logo in early 2011. No significant changes to the logo, they still maintain the substance of the initial stages of the logo icon mermaid (siren) and the color green. They simply omit the names and stars on the logo, so many people believe that Starbucks is following in the footsteps of other famous companies such as Shell, Nike, and Apple that had already taken this step (Logo without name).
This is the first redesign since 1992. The announcement about the redesign of the logo through their website: Starbucks.com met by the opinions pitched protests from customers who wanted the words "Starbucks" in the logo remains.
The Opinion
Here is the opinion of Mike Peck, (Senior Design Manager of Starbucks) about logo changes that have been made:"From the start, we wanted to recognize and honor the important equities of the iconic Starbucks logo. So we broke down the four main parts of the mark – color, shape, typeface and the Siren. After hundreds of explorations, we found the answer in simplicity. Removing the words from the mark, bringing in the green, and taking the Siren out of her ring. For forty years she's represented coffee, and now she is the star."
So how do you think about Starbucks logo change?
is it good, bad, or indifferent? :)
