Printmaking is not a new branch in the Indonesian art, and it's been around since the early development of art. Even graphic art is often considered a forerunner to the birth of printing.
A graphic artist, Setiawan Sabana said that: art is a blend of graphic arts and printing technology. Through the medium of print, graphic artists can produce some graphic artwork.

The Interview"The process does not differ much from the process of offset printing, or screen printing. And in fact there is a graphic arts in human life," said Setiawan Sabana.
In graphic art, each artist first create patterns, shapes, or painting in a medium which is then printed on paper medium. Like the offset machine, printer, or screen printing, graphic artwork can be printed in several times.
"But often people are only able to provide a high appreciation for the first mold. Though both the first printing and a tenth have the same quality," he explained.
Meanwhile, Sanjaya Tisna (a graphic artist as well as a lecturer) explained, the graphic arts have a lot of basic techniques. But the classic basic techniques of graphic arts is the most commonly used, namely: wood crafts and lithography.

Apart from these two techniques, several other techniques can be done by a graphic artist through another medium. One of them through the medium of aluminum or an artist's body.
"Currently, the graphic arts are being faced with the challenge (technology) of new media. So the graphic artist is currently expected to be able to combine classical technique with technology or new media," he said.
