There are many simple tips in typography that can help improve the quality of our design. in this post, we will discuss the problems the use of uppercase and lower case in graphic design. Oh by the way, forgive me this bad blogger for no blogs since the last four days and I feel very bad. Many offline things to do, sorry! : D
What is uppercase and lowercase?
Uppercase letter is the type consisting of large letters that make up a word or sentence. Conversely, lowercase is a collection of small letters of a word or sentence form.
I would advice : "Never write a long sentence using uppercase type!" Why is that?
Try reading the following sentence:
Now try read this:
And now try to compare both
Sentences that use uppercase (All CAPS) were difficult to read .. while the sentences that use lowercase easier to read. Why is it!? The answer is that lowercase text format (lowercase) has some letters that stand on its own character, usually called Ascenders and descenders.
Ascenders is type the letter that has a section up (Ascend) upwards. For example: l, h, b and f
while the descenders are the type of letter that has a section that came down (descend) to the bottom. for example: p, q, g and y.
Both types of letters in the lowercase letters that make lower-case letters in a format more easily identified and helps accelerate the eyes in reading. Meanwhile in uppercase format, all fonts in equal standing and will be very hard to read.
